Comets Split with Warriors, Kemball Breaks Record

Comets 2, Warriors 5
Mayville State got things going in the second inning when Jade Ledochowski hit a solo homer over the center field fence to make it 1-0.

Waldorf would answer with five runs in the top of the fifth led by a three run home run from Payge Jurgens. The Comets would get one back in the bottom of the seventh, but dropped game one on Sunday 5-2.

Karlee Leyvas pitched the Warriors to victory. She surrendered two runs on eight hits over seven innings, striking out one.

Annika Seedborg took the loss for Mayville State. She went seven innings, allowing five runs on nine hits and striking out ten.

Alissa Foster went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Mayville State in hits.

The Warriors had nine hits in the game. Taylor Navratil and Peyton Arenson both had multiple hits to lead Waldorf at the plate.

Comets 2, Warriors 0
Shaye Kemball didn't allow a single run against the Warriors in game two of Sunday's doubleheader, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Mayville State to a 2-0 victory.

Kemball struck out nine batters in the game, which propelled her to the top of the list for Mayville State's career strikeouts record. The junior from Winnipeg, Manitoba now has 326 career strikeouts, surpassing Morgan Bickell's previous record of 322 career strikeouts.

Mayville State fired up the offense in the second inning when Nicole Bunting doubled and brought in Aimee Fafard and Laura Spurgeon to make it 2-0. That was all Kemball would need to get the victory for Mayville State.

Jessica Whitaker took the loss for the Warriors. She lasted six innings, allowing eight hits and two runs.

The Comets collected eight hits on the day. Bunting, Amanda Izzo, and Kemball each collected two hits to lead the way for Mayville State.
