Comets Drop Two to Vikings


Comets 2, Vikings 4
Mayville State stayed in it until the end, but VCSU pulled away late in a 4-2 victory in game one. The game was tied at two with the Vikings batting in the bottom of the fifth when Riley Perryman doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring a run and giving VCSU a 3-2 lead.

The Vikings tacked on one more insurance run in the bottom of the sixth to give them the 4-2 win. 

VCSU opened up the scoring in the first inning with Emily Smith's sac fly scoring a run.

The Comets managed to get on top of VCSU in the fourth inning when Jade Ledochowski doubled to center to bring in Amanda Izzo and Alissa Foster for a 2-1 lead.

Emily Smith led things off in the circle for VCSU. She surrendered two runs on five hits over seven innings, striking out eight.

Annika Seedborg was on the rubber for the Comets. She surrendered four runs on nine hits over six innings, striking out three and walking one.

Jade Ledochowski led Mayville State with two hits in two at bats.

VCSU tallied nine hits. Perryman, Voni Culp, and Autumn Perry each racked up multiple hits to the lead the Vikings.

Mayville State watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 5-0 loss to the Vikings in the series finale between the two teams.

In the first inning, VCSU got their offense started when Riley Perryman drove in Voni Culp with a single to make it 1-0.

The Vikings would add two more in the third and and two in the sixth with most of the offense coming from two doubles off the bats of Perryman and Autumn Perry.

VCSU's Emilee Wilson was lights out in the circle, the Comets only managed two hits in game two with Dayna Gutierrez and Jade Ledochowski each delivering base hits. 

The Vikings tallied seven hits on the day. Perryman and Joelle Aiello each managed two hits to lead VCSU.
