Comets 3, Blue Hawks 2
Both teams were strong on the rubber in game one on Friday, but Mayville State was able to defeat Dickinson State 3-2.
Annika Seedborg allowed just five hits to the Blue Hawks to help give the Comets the win.
Seedborg was credited with the victory for Mayville State. She surrendered two runs on five hits over seven innings, striking out nine and walking one.
The Comets scored all three of their runs in the third inning when
Shaye Kemball doubled to left that scored
Sierra Niedge and
Nicole Bunting, it also advanced
Dayna Gutierrez to third base. The next batter,
Alissa Foster, was able to put one deep enough for Gutierrez to tag up and score to make it 3-0.
The Blue Hawks socked two home runs on the day for their runs. Whitney Mesi and Jaya Allen went back-to-back with solo home runs in the fourth inning.
Allen ended up taking the loss for Dickinson State. She allowed ten hits and three runs over six innings, striking out six and walking none.
Mayville State tallied ten hits in the game.

Jade Ledochowski all had two hits to lead the Comets at the plate in game one.
Rhea Pavia went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Dickinson State in hits.
Comets 2, Blue Hawks 4
The Comets fell 4-2 to Dickinson State in game two despite out-hitting them nine to four.
Mayville State was able to get things started in the first inning when
Jade Ledochowski doubled to left and scored
Amanda Izzo to make it 1-0 Comets.
Abi Brooks responed with a two-run home run in the top of the sixth to give DSU the lead 2-1. From there, the Blue Hawks would tack on two more in the seventh.
Alissa Foster was able to add an RBI double in the bottom of the seventh to make it 4-2, but the Blue Hawks were able to hold on for the win.
Brooks was also the winning pitcher for Dickinson State. She went seven innings, allowing two runs on nine hits, striking out four and walking one.
Shaye Kemball took the loss for the Comets. She went seven innings, allowing four runs on four hits and striking out five.
Mayville State totaled nine hits. Kemball and
Amanda Izzo both collected two hits to lead Mayville State.
