Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3

Grand Forks, N.D. – Mayville State University softball was scheduled to host Bismarck State College this past weekend, but due to field conditions, the Comets instead played at the University of North Dakota.

Mayville State dropped the series 1-2, with game four canceled due to cold temperatures.

Game 1: L 8-11 (9 innings)

  • The Comets controlled much of the game, entering the sixth inning with a 6-1 lead.
  • The Mystics responded late, scoring three runs in the sixth, four in the seventh, and three more in the ninth to secure the comeback win.
  • Mayville State struggled to limit Bismarck State offensively, as the Mystics totaled 19 hits in the game.

Game 2: W 3-1

  • The Comets struck first when Lindsey Tulla drove in a run in the bottom of the first inning.
  • Bismarck State tied the game 1-1 in the third on a fielder's choice.
  • Madison Terres delivered a two-out home run in the bottom of the third to give the Comets the lead.
  • Terres added a solo home run to lead off the sixth, providing an insurance run and finishing with three home runs on the day.
  • Baileigh Momberg carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning. The Mystics threatened with a ball to left field, but a diving catch by Kate Vigen preserved the no-hitter—marking the first for Mayville State softball since 2004.

Game 3: L 10-13

  • The Mystics jumped out early, scoring five runs in the first inning.
  • The Comets answered with two runs in the bottom half, but Bismarck added another in the second to make it 6-2.
  • Both teams scored in the fourth, making it 7-3.
  • Bismarck State extended its lead with three runs in the fifth.
  • Mayville State showed signs of life in the sixth, plating two runs, including a solo home run by Lindsey Tulla.
  • The Mystics added three more runs in the seventh.
  • The Comets rallied with five runs in the bottom of the seventh, cutting the deficit to 13-10, but ultimately left two runners on base.

Mayville State is scheduled to hit the road again this week, beginning with a doubleheader against Valley City State. The games are currently set for Wednesday in Dickinson, though the location may change. Valley City State sits just one game ahead of the Comets in the conference standings.

The Comets will then travel west for a four-game series against Providence, currently second in the conference. That series is scheduled for Friday and Saturday in Great Falls, though changes may occur.
