Salina, Kans. - Assistant softball coach
Megan Elliott has been named the next head coach at Kansas Wesleyan University, marking the first head coaching opportunity of her career.
Elliott spent the past two seasons as an assistant under head coach
Jordan Olson, where she played a key role in developing the Comets' hitting and recruiting efforts.
"This is awesome for Coach Elliott. We have been so blessed to have her in our program both as a player and a coach. She has left it better than when she got here," said Olson. "This is what you want for your players—to go on and do great things. When an assistant leaves, it is always hard, but we are proud that she gets to continue to pursue her career.
Prior to coaching, Elliott had a standout playing career at Mayville State & Doane University. During her time as a Comet, Elliott broke the record for hits in a single season, getting her 55th hit vs. Dickinson State University. Elliott was named NSAA First Team All-Conference, NSAA 2024 New Comer of the Year & named to the 2024 NSAA Gold Glove Team at first base.Â
Elliott joined the Comets as a fifth-year graduate transfer after spending three seasons at Doane University, where Olson previously coached. When Olson took over the program at Mayville State in the summer of 2024, Elliott was one of two Doane players who followed her for their final season.
Originally from Simi Valley, California, Elliott will take the lead of the program that was led by Daryl Hoelting for a majority of the 2026 season. The Coyotes had a 22-21 record and a 15-11 mark in the KCAC.
"Coach will do great things in her next endeavors. I would like to personally thank her for the last six years—from being a great player to an amazing coach but also for being a great friend. Go Coyotes," Olson added.Â
Mayville State University will start an immediate search for a full-time assistant coach. For more information visit:
