Comets Sweep Trojans, Win Fourth Straight

Game One: Mayville State 10, Dakota State 0
The Comets defeated Dakota State University 10-0 on Sunday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Adam Senden induced a fly out from Samuel Drummond to finish off the game.
Mayville State was boosted by Adrian Zubia, who went 4-for-4 at the plate. Zubia doubled in the second, homered in the fourth, homered in the sixth, and singled in the eighth.
The Comets fired up the offense in the second inning, when Zubia doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
They also tallied four runs in the sixth inning. The offensive firepower by the Comets was led by Zubia and Paxton Ketchum, all knocking in runs in the inning.
A single by Drummond in the second inning was a positive for Dakota State University.
Craig Broadman earned the win for Comets. He lasted six and a third innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out eight. Senden threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Chris Burke took the loss for Dakota State University. He lasted five and two-thirds innings, allowing 11 hits and nine runs while striking out three and walking zero.
Mayville State hit four home runs on the day. Jared McCorrister had a four bagger in the fifth inning. Zubia had a long ball in the fourth and sixth innings. Ketchum went for the long ball in the sixth inning.
Comets saw the ball well today, piling up 14 hits in the game. Evyn Yamaguchi, Zubia, and McCorrister each collected multiple hits for the Comets. Zubia and Yamaguchi all had four hits to lead the team.
Game Two: Mayville State 18, Dakota State 5
Adrian Zubia was clutch at the plate with batters on base on Sunday, driving in five on three hits to lead the Comets past Dakota State University 18-5 in game two on Sunday. Zubia drove in runs on a double in the first, a single in the second, and a single in the third.
An early lead helped propel the Comets to victory. They scored on a double by Gunner Garpestad in the first inning, a double by Zubia in the first inning, a sacrifice fly by Paxton Ketchum in the second inning, a fielder's choice by Garpestad in the second inning, and a single by Zubia in the second inning.
Comets tallied eight runs in the third inning. Jared McCorrister, Zubia, Riley Nelson, Payton De Luca, and Kyle Maunahan each drove in runs during the inning.
Oz Escobar took the win for Comets. He lasted three innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out two and walking zero. Matthew Johnston and Josh Rodriguez entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Christian Sanchez took the loss for Dakota State University. He surrendered six runs on six hits over one and two-thirds innings.
Dakota State had two home runs in the game. Jalen Boyd had a long ball in the seventh inning and Jerrett Plunkett went yard in the third inning.
Mayville State tallied 15 hits in the game. Zubia, McCorrister, Garpestad, and Ketchum all managed multiple hits for the Comets. Zubia went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Comets in hits. 
Dakota State University tallied 11 hits on the day. Plunkett, Boyd, and Drummond each racked up multiple hits for Dakota State University. Plunkett led Dakota State University with three hits in three at bats.
