Mayville State scored four runs in the seventh inning to give them enough for the 7-3 win over Dakota State in MSU's loser's bracket game Thursday.
Jade Ledochowski,
Tai Yamamoto, and
Sierra Niedge all drove in runs in the frame to provide the extra runs that the Comets needed.
The Comets got on the board in the third when
Shaye Kemball hit a hard ground ball that a V-Hawk infielder couldn't handle,
Nicole Bunting came in to score to make things 1-0. MSU would tack on more in the fifth when
Amanda Izzo doubled to bring in
Dayna Gutierrez, then two batters later Izzo would score to make it 3-0.
The V-Hawks scored one in the sixth and two in the bottom of the seventh, but the late come back effort fell short for Viterbo.
Annika Seedborg was in the circle for Mayville State versus the V-Hawks. She allowed nine hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out three and walking one.
Stefani Gollin also went seven innings for Viterbo, allowing 12 hits and seven runs while striking out three and walking one.
Mayville State saw the ball well today, racking up the 12 hits in the game. Izzo, Niedge, Yamamoto, Ledochowski, and
Brooke Roeges each managed two hits to lead Mayville State at the plate.
