Mayville, N.D. – The Mayville State University Men's Basketball team opens the 2020 season Tuesday night at Oak Hills Christian College. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 PM against the Wolfpack.

Mayville State enters the 2020 season at Oak Hills Tuesday night. The Comets finished the 2019 season at the National Tournament as the game was cancelled due to COVID-19. MSU tallied a 24-5 record during the regular season and 11-3 in conference play putting them in second place heading into the NSAA Conference Tournament. As a team last year, the Comets averaged 82.1 points per game, shot 48.5 percent from the field, 37.3 percent from the 3-point line, and tallied 14.1 assists per game. Latrelle Franklin returns for his senior year averaging 30.9 minutes per game, 13.8 points per game, 3.2 rebounds, and revorded 55 steals last season.
Iker Cruz is the second starter that returns for the Comets averaging 25.6 minutes, 5.3 points per game, and 6.9 rebounds.
Thomas Gieske played in all 28 games last year, averaging 4.6 points, and 2.1 rebounds per game in 12.9 minutes.

The Wolfpack started the 2020 season with a 75-122 exhibition loss to the University of Jamestown. OHCC shot 32.5 percent from the field, 36.8 percent from the 3-point line, and 11 assists. Doug Merida finished the game with 20 points, three rebounds, and four made 3-pointers. Second leading scorer was Jesse Nwalor with 15 points, shooting 4-of-6 from the three-point line. The Comets and Wolfpack matched-up twice in the 2019-20 season defeating them both times by a final score of 119-56 and by forfeit.
