Bemidji, MN – The Mayville State University Men's Basketball team opened the 2020-21 season with a victory over Oak Hills Christian College by a final score of 94-76 Tuesday night.
The Comets outscored the Wolfpack in the first half 53-31 to take a 22-point lead into the intermission. The Wolfpack stored back in the second half and cut the lead to 12 multiple times. The Comets were outscored by four in the second half but picked up the 94-76 victory.
Keiron Goodwin led Mayville State in scoring with 21 points, nine rebounds, and two assists.
Xavier Towne in his first game of the season tallied 12 points, three rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block.
Carl Snyder led the bench with 14 points, three rebounds, and one block.
John Ketchel played 23 minutes in the victory and scored 11 points, tallied one rebound, five assists, and two steals.
Latrelle Franklin tallied a team-high 11 assists, five points, one block, and two rebounds.
Thomas Gieske and
Tyler Goodlow each scored eight points. Gieske tallied eight rebounds and Goodlow recorded two rebounds and one steal.
Cameron Fisher tallied six assists off the bench with three points and four rebounds.
Leon Williams and
Emmanuel Akot tallied five and four points, respectively.
The Men's Basketball team is back in action a week from Friday as they travel to Trinity Bible College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 on November 6th against the Lions.
