Comets picked up a victory Saturday afternoon at the Dakota Clash

Madison, S.D. – The Mayville State University Women's Basketball team picked up a 59-50 victory over Presentation College Saturday at the Dakota Clash. The Comets moved to 3-1 on the regular season.
 
The Comets were down 5-9 in the first quarter with 3:46 left before MSU went on a 12-0 run to finish the quarter and take an eight-point lead heading into the second quarter. MSU and PC played a tight second quarter as the Comets only outscored the Saints by two and took a 10-point lead heading into the halftime break.
 
Jordan Zrust and Danneka Voegeli scored buckets in the first two minutes of the third quarter to get their largest lead of the game at 13. Mayville State was outscored in the third quarter by four points but took a six-point lead heading into the final quarter. The Saints started the fourth quarter with a 3-point bucket to cut the lead to three.
 
The Comets would respond with an eight straight points, four by Voegeli, two from Zrust, and two by Kayla Rocholl to regain a 11-point lead. Mayville State would score the final four points of the game to secure a nine-point victory over the Saints. The Comets shot 42.9 percent from the field, 31.6 percent from the 3-point line, and 15 assists on 24 field goals. MSU also had 10 second chance points, nine points off turnovers, 20 points in the paint, and 11 bench points.
 
Danneka Voegeli led the Comets with 18 points, nine rebounds, and one steal. Jordan Zrust tallied 14 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one block. Grace Cote played 36 minutes in the game and scored eight points, recorded eight rebounds, one assist, and one block.
 
Kayla Rocholl picked up five points in the start with three rebounds and three assists. Stephanie Miller scored eight points off the bench, with two rebounds and two assists. Taylor Dean scored three points off the bench in the victory.
 
The Comets are back in action on December as they host Trinity Bible College for the first home game for the Women's Basketball team. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM at the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse.
