The Mayville State University Baseball team picked up a doubleheader sweep of Concordia (Neb.) Tuesday afternoon by a final score of 3-1, and 4-3. With the wins, the Comets improve to 11-5 on the season.

Game One:

The Comets scored the first runs of the game picking up two in the third inning,
Liam Allen reached first base with one out, followed by a double from
Michael Theisen to put runners on second and third with one out.
Jared McCorrister grounded out to the second baseman to score the first run of the game followed by a single off the bat of
Skyler Forst to score the second run of the inning.

Mayville State added on to the lead in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 3-0.
Quinton Bidon started the inning with an infield single, followed by a sacrifice bunt by
Gunner Garpestad.
Marcus Wohl came to the plate with two outs and delivered a two-out double that gave the Comets the 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth inning.

Concordia threatened in the seventh inning by scoring one run and putting the tying run to the plate before Connor DiNaro struck out the final batter of the game to secure the 3-1 victory. DiNaro picked up his second victory of the season going a complete game allowing five hits, one earned run, and picking up six strikeouts.

Marcus Wohl tallied two hits in four at-bats in game one, with a run batted in.
Michael Theisen also had two hits in the first game, scoring one run.

Quinton Bidon picked up one hit in the victory.

Game Two:

The Bulldogs started game two fast with a solo home run from the second batter of the game giving them an early 1-0 lead. The Comets would tie the game up in the third inning off a sacrifice fly off the bat of
Liam Allen that scored
Gunner Garpestad. Concordia threatened in the fourth inning, loading the bases, and
Preston Edinger got Garcia to fly out to centerfield to end the threat.

Gunner Garpestad gave the Comets a two-run lead in the fourth inning on his first home run of the season with
Skyler Forst on first base. The Bulldogs would answer with a run in the top of the fifth inning off a sacrifice fly to right field. Mayville State extended the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning on a single from

Alex Aguilar who reached on a dropped third strike earlier in the inning.

Concordia got the leadoff hitter on in the sixth inning before the Comets would make a pitching change. The Bulldogs would get another runner on before
Quinton Bidon stopped the threat in the sixth inning. In the seventh inning, Concordia went one, two, three to end the game and give the Comets a 4-3 victory and the sweep.

Forst and Theisen tallied two hits in game two, while Forst also drove in run. Â
Gunner Garpestad tallied one hit, two runs batted in, and two runs scored.
Marcus Wohl tallied the last hit for the Comets in two at-bats.
Ramsay Taliaferro started on the mound for Mayville State, picking up the no-decision going 2.2 innings allowing two hits, two earned runs, one walk, and one strikeout.
Ryan Froemke pitched 0.2 innings allowing two hits out of the bullpen.

Bryce Wood picks up a win in game two, pitching 1.0 inning, allowing three hits, one earned run, walking one, and one strikeout.

The Comets are back in action tomorrow in Tucson, Arizona with a doubleheader with Southwest Minnesota State and Dordt College (Iowa). First pitch is scheduled for 11 am CST and 2:30 pm CST.
