The Mayville State University Softball team tallied two wins on the day by defeating University of St. Francis 3-0 and Waldorf 11-3. With the two victories, Mayville State improves to 5-5 on the regular season heading into the final day of their spring trip.

Game One:

The Comets scored the first two runs of the game in the bottom of the first inning with a
Jocelyn Ontiveros double that scored
Dayna Gutierrez and
Mackenzie Duval. In the bottom of the third inning, Duval led off the inning with an infield single. After stealing second base, she advanced to third on a ground out to put her at third with one out.
Alissa Foster walked to put runners on the corners with one out. MSU hit two ground balls in the infield to eliminate the threat in the third.

Mayville State added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth inning with a one-out double from
Shaye Kemball. With two outs in the inning, Ontiveros singled in her third run batted in on the day to give the Comets the 3-0 lead. Three runs were all
Annika Seedborg needed, as she threw a complete game shutout giving up six hits, one walk, striking out four in seven innings of work.

Ontiveros tallied two hits and three runs batted in the game one victory. Gutierrez, Duval, and Kemball all tallied one hit and one run scored.
Brooke Roeges and
Nicole Bunting also recorded one hit in the victory.

Game Two:

The Comets offense exploded for 11 runs in the second inning, starting with a ground ball from Gutierrez to left field that scored Ontiveros. Duval walked with the bases loaded to extend the lead to 2-0.
Alissa Foster singled to right field to extend the lead to 5-0. Kemball hits a ball to short and the shortstop bobbled the ball and allowed the sixth run to score.

Brooke Roeges walked with the bases loaded that scored the seventh run of the inning.
Lindsey Swanson singled to centerfield that scored Ontiveros and Yamamoto to give the Comets a 9-0 lead.
Nicole Bunting singled in the tenth run of the inning and Duval was hit by the pitch to score the 11
th run of the inning and game.

Th Warriors scored three runs in the fifth inning to cut the lead to 11-3, the Comets would win game two by run rule. Bunting and Gutierrez each tallied two hits in the win. Duval, Foster, Osborn, and Swanson tallied one hit to help the Comets to eight hits on the game.
Shaye Kemball pitched a complete game going 5.0 innings allowing eight hits, three runs, three walks, and two strikeouts.

The Comets are back in action tomorrow morning for a doubleheader against Dickinson State and Waldorf. First pitch is scheduled for 10 am MST/12 pm CST.
