Jamestown, N.D. – The Mavyille State University baseball team started the 2020 fall season with a win over University of Jamestown by a final score of 7-5. The Comets are 1-0 on the season and will try to get win number two tomorrow night against Valley City State.
The Comets would start the scoring in the second inning on a home run by Skylar Forst. After a single by Senden and a double by DeLuca.
Anthony Villanueva reached on an error that scored two runs to give MSU a 3-0 lead. Later that inning,
Michael Theisen singled to center to score Villanueva to cap off the four run second inning.
MSU would add two more runs in the third inning on
Adam Senden's first home run of the game that scored Forst. Jamestown would answer with one run in the bottom of the third inning. The Jimmies would cut the lead to three in the fourth inning with two runs on back-to-back home runs.
Senden would hit his second home run of the game in the top of the fifth inning to right field to extend the lead to 7-3. Jamestown scored one run in the fifth and sixth inning to cut the lead to 7-5 but the Comet bullpen closed the door in the final three innings to pick up the win.
Adam Senden went 3-for-3 tonight with two home runs, three runs scored, and three runs in the victory. He also pitched 4.0 IP, giving up five hits, two earned runs, one walk, and two strikeouts.
Michael Theisen finished the game with two hits and one run batted in.
Skylar Forst scored two runs, recorded one hit, and one run batted in.
Marcus Hughes tallied two hits in four at-bats.
Preston Edinger pitched 1.2 innings in relief giving up four hits, one earned run, two walks, and two strikeouts.
The Comets play the Vikings tomorrow night in Valley City at 6:30 from Charlie Brown Field.
