Jordan Zrust tallied a career-high 38 points in victory over Warriors

Forest City, IA – The Mayville State University Women's Basketball team moves to 2-0 in the conference play after a career-high 38 points from Jordan Zrust. The Comets move to 7-1 on the regular season and 2-0 in NSAA play.

The Warriors took a one-point lead from Garza with 3:08 left in the first quarter before the Comets scored the next five points in the next minute to take a four-point lead. MSU would take a two-point lead heading into the second quarter. After Waldorf tied the game early in the second quarter, both teams continued to trade baskets, as Waldorf took a one-point advantage heading into the intermission.

During the first 2:30 of the third quarter, Jordan Zrust created her own 7-2 run to jump out to a four-point lead. Waldorf scored the last four points of the third quarter to tie the game at 43. Back-to-back three from Zrust and Sydney Magsam gave the Comets a four-point lead with 6:54 left in the game. Waldorf would create an 8-2 run of their own to even the score at 55 with 3:32 left in the contest.  

MSU would finish the game on an 8-3 run to pick up the five-point victory over the Warriors. Mayville State finished the game shooting 42.9 from the field, 27.8 percent from behind the 3-point line, 10-of-19 from the free-throw line, and 38 rebounds. They also tallied 36 points in the paint, five bench points, two fast break points, and 15 assists on 24 made field goals.

Jordan Zrust was one rebound short of a double-double, finishing with 38 points, nine rebounds, one assist, one block, and two steals. Danneka Voegeli was also in double figures with 10 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and four steals. CJ Decker finished with five points, two assists, and one steal. Erin Walker scored five points, four rebounds, and one block. Sydney Magsam and Taylor Reilly combined for five points off the bench for the Comets.

The Comets are back in action tomorrow afternoon at Viterbo University, tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 pm from LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
