Women's Basketball dropped an exhibition game to Fighting Hawks Wednesday

Grand Forks, N.D. – The Mayville State University Women's Basketball team was defeated by the University of North Dakota in an exhibition matchup on Wednesday night by a final score of 65-72.

How It Happened:
After one-quarter of play, the Comets held a one-point lead over the Fighting Hawks shooting 33.3 percent from the field and only made one three-pointer in the first quarter.
The University of North Dakota out-scored the Comets in the second quarter by four and took a 3-point lead into the intermission break. In the quarter, the Comets shot 35.2 percent from the field and 2-of-4 from behind the 3-point line.
The Fighting Hawks would extend the lead in the third quarter by outscoring the Comets by five to extend the lead to eight heading into the final quarter of play. This was the worst quarter of shooting for the Comets only connecting on 29.4 percent of their shots in the quarter.
The Comets would make things interesting in the fourth quarter as they went on a 7-0 run to open the quarter and would cut the lead to one with seven minutes left in the game. After the Comet run, UND would extend the lead back to eight and hold on to a seven-point victory over MSU on Wednesday.
For the game, Mayville State shot 32.8 percent from the field, 23.1 percent from behind the 3-point line, 32 points in the paint, 15 second-chance points, 17 bench points, 11 fast break-points, and 7 points off turnovers.
