Women's Basketball drops exhibition game to Fighting Hawks

Grand Forks, N.D. – The Mayville State Women's Basketball team dropped an exhibition game to the University of North Dakota on Monday night by a final of 87-66.

How It Happened:
After the Fighting Hawks took an early 7-2 lead, MSU would take a 12-9 lead halfway through the first quarter. After the game was tied at 14, UND would finish the quarter on an 8-2 run.
UND would continue to extend the lead in the second quarter, as UND would stretch it to 10 with 7:49 left in the second quarter. After MSU shortened the lead to five, UND would finish the second quarter strong and take a 15-point lead into the second half.
Mayville State just could not put together multiple stops on Monday as the Fighting Hawks would answer MSU when it looked like they were about to go on a run and extended the lead to 19 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Comets would trim the lead to 13-point with 3:46 left in the game but it was answered by a quick 10-0 and would win by 21 on Monday.
Mayville State would finish the game shooting 39.6 percent from the field, 42.9 percent from behind the 3-point line, 31 rebounds, 20 points in the paint, 16 bench points, and 8 fast break points.
