Four Comets in double figures in loss to Tigers

Omaha, Neb. – The Mayville State Women's Basketball team dropped the final game of the 2022 calendar year to Doane 83-85.

How It Happened:
Over the first two minutes of the game Mayville State would jump out to an early 10-2 lead but the Tigers would climb back into the game and make it a four-point game after one-quarter of play.
The Tigers would tie the game at 37 and would eventually take their first lead of the game with 1:41 left in the half. The Comets would trail by four heading into the intermission.
Mayville State would start the third quarter on a 13-0 run to jump out to a 9-point lead. Doane would fight right back and close the gap to two heading into the final quarter.
Doane Tigers started the fourth quarter strong on an 11-3 run to take a 6-point lead. Mayville State would tie the game at 71 with 4:28 left in the game. Doane held a 6-point lead with 18 seconds left in the game and MSU would complete a three-point play to cut the lead in half.
After 2 missed free throws by the Tigers MSU would go down and make a 3-pointer to close the gap to 2. MSU got the ball back with seven seconds left when MSU missed the game-winning 3-point basket and the Comets dropped the non-conference match to the Tigers.
Mayville State would finish the game shooting 43.1 percent from the field, 42.9 percent from behind the 3-point line, and pulled in 33 rebounds, 19 assists, and 18 points in the paint.
