Women's Basketball drops a conference game to #24 Trojans Saturday

Mayville, N.D. – The Mayville State University Women's Basketball team dropped a tight game to #24 Dakota State on Saturday evening by a final score of 86-77.

How It Happened:
Dakota State Trojans started the game on a 13-5 run that lasted over the first four minutes of the first quarter. Mayville State would close the quarter on a run and would take a 19-18 lead heading into the second quarter.
Mayville State would start the second quarter on a mini-run of 7-2 run to jump out to a six-point lead with 7:33 left in the second quarter. MSU would hit back-to-back three-pointer in the last two minutes of the game to take a 10-point lead heading into the intermission.
Dakota State started climbing back in the third quarter and would cut the lead to two with 5:55 left in the third quarter. A couple of lead changes in the last minutes of the quarter but MSU would hold a two-point lead heading into the final quarter.
Dakota State would tie the game at 66 with 7:31 left in the fourth quarter and DSU would hit back-to-back 3-pointers to jump out to an eight-point lead and would end up defeated the Comets by a final score of 86-77.
For the game, MSU shot 41.7 percent from the field, 21.1 percent from behind the 3-point line, pulled in 34 rebounds, and dished out 8 assists.
They also finished with 42 points in the paint, 22 bench points, 15 points off turnovers, 16 fast break points, and 11 second-chance points.
