Mayville, ND – The Mayville State University Women's Basketball split the conference weekend dropping an overtime game to Dakota State Friday and defeating Bruins Saturday.

How it Happened:
Mayville State started the game with a good run against the trojans and that run was 9-3 in the first 5 minutes of the quarter. The comets only allowed the trojans to score 9 points in the first quarter.
The comets had a 4-0 run to start the quarter against the trojans. The comets had 5 bench points in the second quarter.
The comets played good defense against the trojans and made the trojans have 7 turnovers in the third quarter. With those turnovers, the comets had 3 steals.
In the fourth quarter, the comets had a 13-0 run in 5 minutes against the trojans. Mertens hit a three-pointer to tie the game and send it to overtime at the buzzer.

How It Happened:
MSU was only up two points a little past the midway point of the first quarter and would go on a 7-0 run over two minutes of game time to extend the lead to nine. The Comets would be up by six after one-quarter of play.
The second quarter would go back-and-forth as the Comets slightly extended their lead heading into the halftime break.
During the third quarter, MSU would continue to extend their lead and would extend the lead up to 16 heading into the final quarter. Mayville State would continue to pour it on the in the fourth quarter, as they extended their lead to 29 and cruised to a victory over the Bruins.
Mayville State would finish the game shooting 45.1 percent from the field, 43.5 percent from behind the 3-point line, pulled in 41 rebounds, 20 points in the paint, and 16 points off turnovers.
