Hastings, Neb. – The Mayville State Baseball team swept the Broncos on Saturday but drop two close games on Sunday for four game series split.
Game One:
Final Score: Mayville State 12, Hastings 9 (8 Inn.)
How It Happened:
The Broncos scored the first three runs of the game in the second inning to jump out on the Comets. Mayville would answer in the third inning with three runs of their own on an error from the Broncos that scored two runs and a sacrifice fly form Lundmark that scored Villanueva.
The Comets took the lead in the fourth inning on a single to center from Marquez that scored Senden. The Broncos took the lead back in the fourth inning but Mayville State would tie the game in the sixth and take the lead in the in the seventh inning 7-5.
MSU took a 2-run lead into the bottom of the seventh but gave up two runs as we headed to extra innings. In extra innings, Mayville State exploaded for five runs including a couple of RBI singles. Hastings tried to come back in the bottom of the eighth but could not match MSU top of the inning.

Game Two:
The pitching was excellent in game two as they only allowed five hits and 3 walks over seven innings and MSU capalized on some timely hitting as they score one run in the fourth inning on a ground out that scored a run and a RBI single from Boyle that scored Marquez.

Connor Cory: 3.2 IP, 2 hits, 1 walk, 1 strikeout
Alan LaRocque: 2 hits, 1 RBI
Game Three:
Mayville State started the game scoring in the top of the first inning on an error by the Broncos. Hastings would answer with two runs in the first and one in the second inning. Mayville State would tie the game in the third inning in the third inning and would take the lead in the fourth inning on a Lundmark single.
Hastings would take the lead back in the fourth inning. Mayville State would answer right back and tie the game in the fifth inning. Hastings would walk off the Comets in the third game by a final of 5-6.

Game Four:
The Comets would start the scoring in the top of the third inning of the last game on a single from Senden. They would add to that lead in the fourth inning on a single from Marquez. Hastings would answer with one run in the fourth inning and score five in the fifth inning to take the lead.
Mayville State continued to fight in the seventh inning by scoring on a single from Lundmark to cut the lead to three with the tying run at the plate but the next batter would strikeout and the Comets would split the weekend with the Broncos.
