Mayville, N.D. - Comets Men's Basketball hit the road this last weekend taking on the Jamestown Jimmies Friday and then on Saturday squaring off with the Dickinson State Blue Hawks who were 6-0 in NSAA play.
Despite a strong offensive effort by
John White, Jr. &
Justin Fisher on Friday, the Comets wouldn't be unable to get past the Jimmies and fall 88-82.
On Saturday, Mayville State looked to bounce back taking on the Blue Hawks. Dickinson State put up a strong offensive second half, taking down the Comets 82-64.

- Jimmies get out to an early 9 point lead in the first 5 minutes of play

- Jimmies go on a 15-3 run and lead 32-20 with 7:45 remaining in the half

- Jimmies outscore the Comets 12-6 in the final 3 minutes, getting the W 88-82 over Mayville State

- After the first 5 minutes, Comets lead by three, 9-6
- Comets lead by 7 after John White, Jr. sinks a 3 pointer at the 9:00 minute mark
- Back to back 3 pointers by Leomar Castillo and Artis Chapman put the Comets up by 11, 25-14 with 6 minutes left
- Blue Hawks inch their way back and take the lead, heading into the half 33-28 Dickinson State
- Things are knotted 38-38 after the first 5 minutes of the second half
- Blue Hawks go on a 11-2 run, regaining an 8 point lead with 6:24 remaining
- The Comets can't get within more than 10 in the final minutes of the game
- Blue Hawks take the game 82-64 and remaining undefeated in NSAA play
The Comets move to 12-8 overall and 3-3 in NSAA play. They are currently tied for 3rd with Bellevue in the NSAA standings. Dickinson State leads the conference at 7-0 followed by Jamestown who is 5-1.
