Mayville, N.D. - Mayville State Comets Women's Basketball returned home to the Lewy Lee this Friday and Saturday.
The Comets hosted the No. 6 ranked Dakota State Trojans on Friday and fell 83-60. They then squared off with the Bellevue Bruins, and got their 15th win of the season after they took down the Bruins 84-73.
Despite falling to the Trojans on Friday night,
Alex Page put up 27 points, went 11-21 from the field and snagged 6 rebounds.
Mackenzie Hughes put up 11 points, surpassing the 1500 point mark for her career.
The Trojans were 30-68 from the field and 14-39 from behind the arc. Mayville State was just 23-63 from the field and made only 4 of their 23 shot 3 pointers.
Dakota State remains undefeated in the North Star at 9-0.
The Comets had a quick turn around Saturday with a 3:00pm tip off against the Bruins.
Alex Page had another big night with 24 points and 8 rebounds.
Jes Mertens contributed a double double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. She also had 6 assists.
Overall, the Comets shot 45.9% from the field, 39.3% from behind the arc and went 100% at the line. They led the night in all categories.
The Comets now sit at 15-7 overall and 5-5 in the NSAA where they are in third place and just one game back behind (RV) Jamestown.
Mayville State will host Dickinson State next Friday and 5:30pm and the University of Jamestown at 3:00pm on Saturday.
