Mayville, N.D. - For the third time this season, Mayville State Comets Women's Basketball faced off against the Dakota State Trojans, who have been in the NAIA Top 10 all season. Despite a strong performance by
Jes Mertens and the Comets, the Trojans were able to lock down as NSAA Regular Season Champions after the 86-77 win over the Comets.
1st Quarter:
- Both teams explode offensively
- Things are knotted 20-20 at the 3:30 minute mark

2nd Quarter:
- The 2nd quarter was filled with good defense by both teams
- An
Alex Page 3 pointer and a jump shot by Mertens, puts the Comets up by 11
- Trojans go on a 10-0 run to get back with 2, 38-36 2:45 left in the half
- Dakota State ends it with a 7-0 run, putting them up 46-43 heading into the locker room
- Mayville State scored just 12 points and was 5-17 from the floor
3rd Quarter:
- Comets struggle offensively, Trojans lead by 6 half way through
- Dakota State leads by 10 at the end of the 3rd; 66-56
- Comets shoot just 25% (5-20) from the floor and score only 13 points
4th Quarter:
- Comets continue to struggle offensively, scoring just 4 points in the first 4 minutes, allowing the Trojans to go up 17
- With 1 minute and 30 seconds remaining, Mertens nails her 6th three of the night for a career high
- Hughes nails a late 3 to bring the Comets within 9 but that is as close as they would get
- Trojans take the game 86-77
