Elkhorn, Neb. - Mayville State Comets Baseball was originally set to take on Mount Marty in a 4 game series starting on Saturday, March 8th. Instead, things would get pushed back on multiple occasions and the location would change to Elkhorn, Nebraska but not until Monday. The Comets were only able to get in a DH, where they fell by one run both games.
'Nothing about this trip turned out to be ideal. We departed Mayville Friday afternoon in hopes to play Saturday & Sunday, but we didn't see a live pitch until Monday Afternoon," said head coach
Billy Tomblin. "Frost kept coming up on the field in Yankton and it just wouldn't cooperate to allow us to play. Sunday was about as far from ideal as it gets. We had a start time of 1pm, which got pushed 5 more times throughout the day until we finally officially canceled around 5pm."
Tomblin also added, "That was a tough one for the guys, you get dressed and ready to leave at 11am and then you keep getting the message 'games bumped back another hour' text from me. Thankfully Josh [Mount Marty's head coach] was about to work something out with Southeast CC down in Norfolk, Nebraska to allow us to get a double header in on Monday."

" Monday was a frustrating day. We ust didn't look like ourselves. Not sure if it was the uncertainty of the entire weekend, sitting around for two days, if we didn't prepare properly or all of the above but nonetheless we just didn't get it done. Mount Marty did a better job than us and found a way to take both games," commented Tomblin.
