Mayville, N.D. - The No. 2 seeded Mayville State Comets Women's Basketball team hosted the No. 3 seeded Jamestown Jimmies in the semifinals of the NSAA postseason conference tournament.
The Jimmies would have a strong 2nd quarter and be able to hold off the Comets in the second half to upset Mayville State by ending their season with a 85-67 win.
1st Quarter:
- Hughes puts up 8 points and has 2 steals
- The Jimmies stay at pace with the Comets throughout the entire quarter offensively
- Things are knotted 19-19 after the first 10 minutes of play
2nd Quarter:
- Comets go 5-14 from the field and 0-6 behind the arc scoring just 13 in the quarter
- The Jimmies get into an offensive rhythm, draining 3 three pointers and going 8-20 from the field
- Jamestown outscores the Jimmies 24-13 and head into the locker room with a lead of 43-32
3rd Quarter:
- Jamestown gets hot behind the arc, going 5-10 and scoring 21 points
- The Comets work to chip away but struggle offensively
- The Jimmies lead by as much as 17 in the quarter
4th Quarter:
- Comets get within 9 points early
- Jimmies start to slip away midway through the quarter
- Mayville State struggles to make defensive stops
- Jamestown gets the 85-67 win and heads to the NSAA conference championship game, ending the Comets' season
Mayville State ended their season with an 18-10 record overall and 8-7 in the NSAA. The Comets graduate 5 seniors this year. Among those seniors are #5
