Mayville, N.D. - Mayville State powered past Judson University Thursday night with a dominant performance at Jerome Berg Field. Seven different Comets rushed for touchdowns in the 49-20 victory over the Eagles.
First Quarter:
The Comets struck first with a 36-yard touchdown run from Darnell Green, plus a successful 2-point rush by Jack Simmers. Judson answered late in the quarter with a touchdown, but failed the extra point. Mayville led 8-6 heading into the 2nd quarter
Second Quarter:
Judson briefly took the lead on a 21-yard TD pass but Mayville responded quickly after Payton MCGregor broke free for a 73-yard rushing touch down. Isaiah Smith & Cameron Spaeth both ran in touch downs giving Mayville the 29-13 lead heading into halftime.
Third Quarter:
The Comets extended the lead when transfer quarterback, Matthew Donovan, capped an 11-play, 60-yard drive with a 1-yard rushing score; 36–13 Mayville State.
Fourth Quarter:
Mayville State sealed the game when Blaine Smith scored his first collegiate touchdown from 18 yards out followed up by Chris Titus' 12-yard run, giving the Comet a 49-20 victory.
