Moorhead, Minn. - The Comets Golf team traveled across the border to Village Green Colf Course to compete in an 18 hole event on Thursday. On a very windy day, the Comets swept the team awards, with
Erik Bjorndahl earning his second collegiate win while
Gracie Kaczynski fired a personal best to finish 3
rd.
The Comets Men's team fired a team score of 302, besting Alexandria Tech by 16 shots. Bjorndahl collected five birdies on his round of 73, followed closely by
Satchel Tickel who used a back nine 34 to finish 2
nd.
Masen Nowacki was 3
rd with a 77 and
Damian Pokrzywinski won a tiebreaker for 4
th with a 78.
Kaczynski drove the 296 yard first hole and two putted for birdie on her way to a new personal best of 93. That was good for solo 3
rd place.
Annika Reierson finished in 6
th place with a 104.
"Village Green can be a tricky course if one hasn't played it before, which was the case for most of our team," said head coach
John Murphy. "Combine that with high winds and it would have been easy to waste some shots out there. Our crew managed the trouble holes very well and took advantage of the holes downwind. This was a good final test before Conference."
The Comets head to Papago Golf Course in Phoenix, Arizona to compete in the Frontier Conference Championships on April 28
th and 29
th.
