MAYVILLE, N.D. - Mayville State head golf coach Mike Carr announced Friday the hiring of Brian Aune as an assistant coach for the Comets.

Aune brings more than 50 years of golfing experience and deep ties to the Mayville community and Mayville State University. A lifelong Mayville resident, Aune has been involved in the community in numerous ways, including serving on the Mayville Park Board, Mayville Golf Course Board, Mayville Lutheran Church Council Board and Comet Athletic Club Board. He also served as a volunteer firefighter with the Mayville Fire Department for 20 years.

Prior to joining the Mayville State golf program, Aune worked for the State of North Dakota in the Hillsboro and Mayville districts for 35 years. He also spent 16 years coaching football at May-Port-CG and more than 25 years coaching softball.

Aune's connection to Mayville State runs deep. All four of his daughters attended Mayville State, and his grandson, Blaine, currently plays for the Comets football program.

Aune has also passed his love of golf on to his family, teaching all four of his daughters to play the game. He has been an avid golfer for five decades and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Comet golf program.

Aune is married to Shelly, and the couple has four daughters and eight grandchildren.

Carr and the Comets are excited to welcome Aune to the Mayville State golf program.
