Comet Baseball travels south to face off against Warriors Friday and Saturday

Mayville, N.D. – The Mayville State Baseball team travels to Waldorf University for a four-game NSAA conference series on Friday and Saturday. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 & 4 PM on Friday and 12 & 3 PM on Saturday at Waldorf.
 
Quick Hits on the Comets:
The Comet Baseball team enters the weekend series with a 21-10 overall record and 10-4 in conference play.
Last weekend MSU took three out-of-four games from Dakota State splitting the first day and sweeping the second day.
Mayville State had one game postponed earlier this week due to weather and they are looking for possible dates to make that game up.
The Comets enter the weekend series with a .263 batting average, 250 hits, 61 doubles, six triples, 162 runs batted in, 20 home runs, and a .377 on-base percentage.
Defensively, MSU has a .942 fielding percentage, 4.00 earned run average, allowing 249 hits, 109 earned runs, 110 walks, and 257 strikeouts.
Theo May is leading the Comets with a .323 batting average with 20 hits, six doubles, nine runs batted in, and a .475 on-base percentage.
Jared McCorrister is second on the team with a .320 batting average but is leading the Comets in hits with 40, 15 doubles, two triples, 30 runs batted in, and six home runs.
Marcus Hughes has a .319 batting average, with 23 hits, 22 runs scored, one double, one triple, 14 runs batted in, and one home run.
Ramsay Taliaferro pitched 5.2 innings last weekend and only allowed two hits and one walk in his appearance picking up the win.
Kenneth Stewart is leading the pitchers that have thrown more than 10 innings this season with a 1.19 earned run average.
 
Matching up with the Warriors:
The Waldorf Warriors enter the weekend conference series with the Comets with a 14-19 overall record and 8-6 in conference play.
The Warriors took three out-of-four games last weekend at Presentation College sweeping the first day and splitting the second day.
Waldorf is hitting .325 as a team with 338 hits, 72 doubles, one triple, 44 home runs, 207 runs batted in, and a .401 on-base percentage.
Angel Mojica is leading the team with a .415 batting average with 15 doubles, 21 runs batted in, four home runs, and a .465 on-base percentage.
Sergio Olivares is second on the team with a .378 batting average, with 31 hits, seven doubles, one home run, 19 runs batted in, and a .430 on-base percentage.
Nic Tebeau has a team-leading 2.19 earned run average pitched 24.2 innings allowing 22 hits, six earned runs, three walks, and 17 strikeouts.
Heath Chapman has a 4.63 earned run average over 46.2 innings allowing 54 hits, 24 earned runs, 14 walks, and 54 strikeouts.
