Madison, S.D. - Mayville State Comets Baseball wrapped up the regular season play this weekend at Dakota State. The comets split on the weekend winning one game each day.

Game 1: L 7-8

• Dakota State scores first in the bottom of the first inning taking an early 1-0 lead
• Zachary Evanochko hit a solo home run in the 2nd to tie it up 1-1
• Situational hitting and an error plate two more Comets in the 2nd inning as they pull ahead 3-1
• Trojans chip away in the 3rd with a SAC fly to make it 3-2 heading into the top of the 4th; Comets up
• Kevin Conway, Cam Goff & Jalen Denton each hit RBI singles to pull ahead 7-2 entering the bottom of the 6th
• A couple of walks and hits plated 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th, tying the game 7-7
• Trojans hit a double in the bottom of the 7th and are able to score off an error to secure the win over the Comets

Game 2: W 8-3

• Comets score first in the top of the 3rd with an RBI single from Cam Goff
• Zachary Evanochko & Tony Villarreal homer in the 4th and 5th innings making it 3-0 midway
• Comets push 3 more runs in the 7th, making it 6-0 Comets
• Trojans hit a 2 run home run in the bottom of the 7th, 6-2 good guys
• A single in the 8th and a SAC fly in the 9th, give the Comets a pair of insurance runs
• A SAC fly in the bottom of the 9th allows Dakota State to score, however, the Comets keep them at bay and sealing the 8-3 victory

Game 3: W 18-3

• Comets score 7 in the 2nd, 4 in the 3rd, 3 in the 4th and 4 more in the 5th making it an 18-0 ball game
• Dakota State chips away late, pushing 3 runs in 2 innings
• Kevin Conway and Jalen Denton each recorded 2 doubles
• Zachary Evanochko and Jack McQueen recorded a double
• Tony Villareal had a triple
• Robery Gurney, Cam Goff, Hugh Montgomery, Kevin Conway, Jalen Denton, Zachary Evanochko, Jack McQueen and Tony Villareal each recorded at least one RBI
• Tyler Boden went 6 innings, giving up just 4 hits, 1 run and struck out 6
• Connor Dutke closed things up, spring 3 hits in 1 inning of work and striking out one

Game 4: L - 6-13

• Dakota State scores runs in 6 different innings
• Marshal Judisch recorded a double
• Robert Gurney, Cam Goff, Kevin Conway, Jalen Denton and Jack McQueen all had RBIs
• Hugh Montgomery and Jalen Denton each had a stolen base
• The Comets mixed in 6 different pitchers 

The Comets will enter the tournament as the 5th seed and will take on (4) Dakota State next Thursday in Dickinson at 10am MT.
