Mayville, N.D. - Mayville State University Comets Men's Basketball hosted the University of Minnesota-Morris Cougars on Tuesday in a non-conference match up.
After an explosive first half, the Comets took down the Cougars 93-54 to improve to 7-3 overall and 6-0 at home.Â
Darren Jones continued to shine as he put up 19 points and 10 rebounds in the first half. Jones was 6-7 from the field and 7-8 from the free throw line.
Overall, the Comets shot 19-33 from the field and 4-8 from behind the arc to boost them to a 52-23 lead over the Cougars at the half.

Cristian Butler's time to shine in the second half, as he put up 15 points in 14 minutes. He went 5-9 from the field and nailed 3 shots from behind the arc. He had 17 on the night and added 4 rebounds.
11 different Comets put points on the board in the 93-54 win over the Cougars. 48 of their points came from in the paint and 45 would come from their bench. Their biggest lead of the night was 42.
The Comets will get another chance at the Cougars on Tuesday, December 3rd. Mayville State will travel to Morris and have a 5:30pm tip off with the women's team to follow.Â
The Comets do not return home until January 3rd, where they will host Dickinson State University.Â
