Mayville, N.D. - Mayville State Men's Basketball looked to bounce back Saturday night after their double overtime loss against Dickinson State.
The Comets faced the University of Jamestown Jimmies who got out to an early lead and shut the Comets down 87-72.
1st half:
- Jimmies get the first bucket of the game with a 3
- Jones scores first for the Comets after a lay up and heading to the line, sinking the FT
- Jimmies lead 11- 9 at 5 minutes in; Jones with 7
- After the first 10 minutes the Jimmies extend their lead to 15 with a couple of back-to-back threes; 26-11 Jamestown
- Cristian Butler commits 3 fouls in the first 10 minutes
- Jimmies stay hot for behind the arc going 7-11 & lead by 16, 31-15 with 8 minutes remaining
- Comets struggle to get momentum going and the Jimmies lead 41-21 at the 5-minute mark
- Jamestown sinks a jumper at half time & leads 52-28
2nd Half:
- Garza lays it in for the first points of the half
- Comets get 3 stops in a row and go on a 7-0 run, forcing a Jimmies time out – Comets trail 35-52 after two minutes into the second half
- Comets extend their run 15-2, trailing by 11; 54-43 Jimmies after five minutes in
- Jimmies scrape their way back and lead by 20 with 7:30 remaining
- Jamestown leads 84-68 at the 2 minute-mark
- Comets get within 12 but ultimately fall to the Jimmies

The Comets head to Valley City State next Friday, tipoff is set for 7:30pm following the women's game.
