Mayville State Women pick up first win of the season 78-68 over Minnesota-Morris

Elixannette Cosme-Gonzalez scored 17 points to lead the Mayville State University Comet women to their first win of the year. Mayville State got a big boost from their bench as the reserves scored 27 points in the victory. Danielle Jackson led the reserves with 12 points, followed by Erin Ericson, who scored eight points including two big three-point shots.

Hailey Longtin scored 14 points making four shots from downtown.
The Comets won the battle on the boards 37-27 over the Cougars led be Kira DeMorales' nine rebounds. DeMorales was all over the floor finishing with eight points, six steals, and two blocks to add to her nine rebounds.

Elixannette Cosme-Gonzalez finished with eight rebounds, followed by Laura Taylor's seven to lead the team. Taylor had nine points on a perfect 5-of-5 from the charity stripe. Mayville State did a good job as a team from the foul line going 16-for-17 good for 94%.

The Cougars were balanced on offense with four girls in double figures. Steph Roggenbuck led the team with 17 points. Tara Tilky followed with 14, Alyssa Silva added 12, and Abby Fragodt had 10 coming off the bench.

Mayville State played tough defense forcing 26 Cougar turnovers. The offense got going in the second half scoring 47 of their 78 points.

Mayville State (1-5) (0-0) will be in action again on Friday at home, against Dakota State University (3-4) (0-0) for their first conference game of the season.
