Comet women pick up road victory in Jimmie Classic over University of Winnipeg 88-76

JAMESTOWN, ND –Mayville State University got their first test on the road taking on the University of Winnipeg at the Jimmie Classic in Jamestown, North Dakota. Mayville State had a big second half effort to earn the victory 88-76.

The Comets and Wesman were locked in a tight one at the half with Mayville State leading 46-44 at the break. The Comets defense kicked it up a notch in the second half holding the Wesman to a mere 32 points while they pulled away and picked up their first win on the road in the 2012-13 season.

Marcisa McMillan led the Comets tonight with a dominant effort going for 20 points and 13 rebounds for the Comets. McMillan was very efficient offensively going 8-for-9 from the field.

Not far behind McMillan was sophomore Sabrina Rude. Rude had another good night shooting the ball scoring 19 points, making five shots from beyond the arch. Rude also led the team in steals collecting four steals in the game.

Hailey Longtin had another solid night scoring for Mayville State adding 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field.
The Comets (3-0) will be in action again tomorrow afternoon in a 2:00 p.m. game against Brandon University in Jamestown, ND.
