The Comets traveled to Denver to take an A.I.I. conference opponent in Johnson & Wales University on Friday, January 4th. The Comets came out firing taking a commanding 21-8 lead to open up the first half. The Johnson & Wales Wildcats battled back to cut the lead to two 29-27at the end of the first half.

The second half was a back and forth battle. With the score tied 60-60 late in the game the Comets went inside to Marcisa McMillan who hit a jumper in the lane to put the Comets up two. The Comets came up with a big stop on the ensuing possession, and Samantha Heier sealed the win with two free throws. The final score was 64-60.

The Comets have now won 8 in a row and is 12-1 on the season. Mayville State was well balanced offensively with 3 girls in double figures. Samantha Heier, Sabrina Rude, and Marcisa McMillan each had 11 points. The Comets will travel to Espanola, NM to take on Northern New Mexico College on Sunday, January 6th. Tipoff is set for 2:00 pm.
