MAYVILLE, ND – The Comet women hosted Oglala Lakota College on Saturday night at the Lewey Lee Fieldhouse in Mayville, ND. MSU wasted little time to jump out on their opponents as they coasted to a 100-37 victory.
Balanced offense has been one of the keys to success so far this year for MSU. In this game with was no different. Five Comets were in double figures and the starting five (50 points) scored the exact same amount as the bench (50 points).
Hailey Longtin led the team in scoring with 16 points to go along with five rebounds, and one steal.
Marcisa McMillan and
Erica Henrikson were next with 14 points each. McMillan tied for the team lead in rebounds with
Missy Kassube. Both players collected nine boards in the game.
Henrikson, however, was a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor including 4-of-4 from the three-point line.
Liza Hoglo turned in a good all-around performance with 11 points, six assists, and six rebounds.
Kay Laforet rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points as she was perfect from the field (4-for-4) as well.
The game was never really close. The Comets led 61-20 at halftime and outscored Oglala 39-17 in the second half for the final of 100-37. MSU finished the game with 27 assists to just nine turnovers for a 3:1 assist-to-turnover ratio. They also shot the ball at a 55% clip.
Mayville State (10-2, 0-0) plays Oglala Lakota College again tomorrow (Sunday) December 15, 2013 at the Lewey Lee Fieldhouse in Mayville, ND. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
