Comets handle #20 St. Ambrose from start to finish; Win 94-69 on the road

Marcisa McMillan goes for 22 points, 8 rebounds in win over ranked opponent.

DAVENPORT, IA – Mayville State looked to pick up their second win of the road trip on Saturday night as they took on the #20 St. Ambrose University Fighting Bees.

Marcisa McMillan led the Comets in offense in this one with 22 points and 8 rebounds on 9-for-12 shooting from the floor.

MSU had their offense on track early in this game with a 51 point first half. Four Comets hit double figures in this game to keep the offense balanced. Liza Hoglo (17), Samantha Heier (14), and Hailey Longtin (10) added to McMillan's game-high 22 points.

What may be the most impressive about McMillan's outing was she did all of her damage in just 18 minutes on the floor.

She wasn't the only story of this game, however, the Comets again dominated their opposition at the free throw line, making more free throws (21) than St. Ambrose attempted (20). MSU converted 21-of-26 at the free throw line for an 81% clip.

As a team the Comets were also shooting the ball very well from the floor going 32-for-61 (52.5%) and 9-for-22 (40.9%) from the three point line. Heier (3-of-4) led the team in three point shooting. The Comet defense held St. Ambrose to shooting 30.8% from the floor (24-for-78) in the game.

Mayville State (8-2) has their second meeting with Minnesota-Morris on Friday, December 13, 2013 in Morris, MN. The Comets defeated the Cougars 83-64 on December 3rd
