Comet women defeat Johnson & Wales (Colo.) 92-84 on the road

Six players hit double figures for Comets in victory.

DENVER, CO -- The Comet women's basketball team returned to the court this weekend for a pair of games, the first of which against Johnson & Wales (Colo.). The Comets defeated Johnson & Wales 92-84 featuring a very balanced attack with six players hitting double figures.

Liza Hoglo led the offense with 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds. She shot the ball well going 6-for-8 from the floor and 6-of-9 from the free throw line.


Marcisa McMillan followed with 17 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for Mayville State. Hailey Longtin (15), Angela Tauer (14), Sabrina Rude (14), and Kay Laforet (10) rounded out the scoring for Mayville State.


Rude and Tauer shot the ball well from beyond the arch as the pair combined for half of the made three pointers for the Comets. Rude went 4-for-9 and Tauer was 3-of-6 as the team finished 13-for-34.


Mayville State also finished with a big advantage in rebounding as they  outrebounded their opponents 51-41. McMillan's 11 rebounds led but followed by Rude with eight and Hoglo with seven.


Mayville State (12-2) continued their road trip with a game against Northern New Mexico on Saturday, January 11th, 2013.
