The Mayville State University men's basketball team is excited to announce the addition of eight high school basketball players to their program for the 2014-15 season.
"We are really excited about this group of high school players we have coming in," said Coach DeWitt. "This class brings a lot of individual and team success with them. More importantly, they are bringing an eagerness to learn and improve."
Seth Noll – 5'9 –Guard – Melrose, MN. Noll comes to Mayville State from Melrose High School in Melrose, MN. Noll averaged 16.5 points and 2.8 assists per game while collecting a total of 91 rebounds and 70 steals. Noll was team captain, voted All-Conference, Most Valuable Player of the West Central North Conference, team MVP, All-Tournament North Sub-Section team, Mid MN Sports All Area First Team, and St. Cloud Times All-Area Team Honorable Mention during his senior season. Noll led his team to the Conference Championship, Sub-Section Championship, and Section Runner-Up his senior season. Noll scored a career total of 820 points, 237 assists, and 138 three-pointers made in 89 games. Noll was also an All-Conference performer, Mid MN All Area First Team, and St. Cloud Times All Area Honorable Mention football player.
Garek Droog – 6'6 – Forward, Grafton, ND. Droog comes to Mayville State from Grafton High School in Grafton, ND. Droog averaged 16.8 points and 4.8 blocks per game his senior season while shooting 58% from the field and collecting a total of 255 rebounds. Droog was voted All-Conference in both his junior and senior season and was named a Lion's All-Star in 2014. Grafton High School was the region runner-up during Droog's junior and senior season and region champions his sophomore season which led to a fifth place finish in the state tournament. Droog was named team captain for football, basketball, and baseball during his senior year. Droog is also the Senior Class President, President of the Junior Bank Board, and a Fellowship of Christian Athletes Huddle Leader.
Dustin Dahl – 6'5 – Center – New Folden, MN. Dahl comes to Mayville State from Marshall County Central High School. Dahl averaged 14.6 points and 7.7 rebounds during his senior season. Dahl is a team captain, three year letter-winner, and was voted the Most Valuable Player in 2014. Dahl recorded 855 career points and collected 470 rebounds. Dahl was an All-Conference selection in both the North Border and Six Star Conference during his junior and senior season. Northern Freeze was a two time runner-up in Class A Section 8 and won the North Border and Six Star Conference Championship in 2013 and 2014.
Jacob Eaton – 6'2 – Guard – Roseau, MN. Eaton comes to Mayville State from Roseau High School in Roseau, MN. Jacob is a three sport athlete who has been a three year varsity letter winner in football, basketball and baseball. Jacob recorded a career totoal of 1,212 points and averaged 21.3 points per game his senior year. Jacob was selected as a North Border All-Conference player in both his junior and senior season, North Border Co-Senior Player of the Year, team MVP as a junior and senior, team Captain as a junior and senior, and Academic All-State. Jacob is a member of the National Society of High School Scholars along with the National Honor Society at Roseau High School.
Austin Volk – 6'1 – Guard – Pembina, ND. Volk comes to Mayville State from North Border High School. During his senior season, Volk recorded a total of 635 points as he averaged 28.9 points per game. Volk also grabbed a total of 245 rebounds for an 11.1 average per game. Volk dished out 51 assists on the season and also recorded 50 total blocks. Volk was voted All-Conference as both a senior and junior for North Border High School.
Josh Hanson – 6'4 – Forward – New Folden, MN. Hanson comes to Mayville State from Tri County High School in Karlstad, MN. Northern Freeze finished the high school season with a 22-6 record in 2014 and a 22-4 record in 2013. They were the runner-up in Section 8 during Josh's junior and senior year and they won both the Six Star and North Border Conference Championship in back-to-back years in 2013 and 2014.
Riley Hallaway – 6'4 – Forward – East Grand Forks, MN. Hallaway comes to Mayville State from Sacred Heart High School in East Grand Forks, MN. Hallaway averaged 15.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.1 steals, and 1.8 blocks per game during his senior season. Hallaway also set the school record for most points in a single game with 44. Hallaway is a team captain and was named All-Conference for the North Tri City Conference for his efforts during the 2013-14 season. Hallaway was an honor student from 2009-14 and is the High School and Senior Class Vice President. Hallaway is also a volunteer coach for Saturday Youth Basketball Clinics at Sacred Heart High School.
Daniel Lindgren – 6'2 – Guard – Enderlin, ND. Lindgren comes to Mayville State from Enderlin High School in Enderlin, ND. Lindgren averaged 21.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game his senior year while shooting 49% from the floor. Lindgren was awarded team MVP, All-Conference, All-District, and All-Barnes County Tournament during his senior year. As a junior, Lindgren was named All-Conference and All-District. Lindgren scored 1,043 points in his career at Enderlin High School. Lindgren is a four-sport athlete participating in football, track, and baseball as well. Lindgren was named team MVP, 2x All-Region, and All-State in football, and was a state qualifier in track and field three years.
