JQ Folena would not be denied at the plate when runners were on base on Saturday, Folena drove in four runs on three hits to lead Mayville State past Bethesda University 7-1. Folena drove in runs on a single in the first, a single in the fifth, and a sacrifice fly in the seventh.

The Comets secured the victory thanks to four runs in the fifth inning, scoring on singles by Folena and Rodney Gilbert and a sacrifice fly by Spencer Merle.

Mayville State was able to get things moving in the first inning, when Folena singled on a 2-2 count, scoring Obie Wilder.

Bethesda University knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the third inning, when Alex Rodriguez drove in a run with a doubled on a 3-2 count.

Mayville State pulled away for good with four runs in the fifth inning. Spencer Merle's sac fly scored a run for the Comets, then Folena singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. Rodney Gilbert added another run after he singled on a 0-1 count, bringing in Folena from second.

Oz Escobar pitched Mayville State to the victory. He allowed one hit and no runs over two innings, striking out three. Kalton Agnes threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen. Agnes recorded the last 12 outs to earn the save for Mayville State. Austin Herrington started the game for Mayville State University Comets . He went three innings, allowing one run on two hits.
