Valley City, N.D. - The Mayville State Comets Baseball team hit the road for their final regular season road series, taking on the Valley City State Vikings Friday and Saturday.
Garret Lundmark would be able to pitch a 3 hit shut out win in game 1 and in game 2, the Comets would score a combined 4 runs in the 8th and 9th inning for the come back 9-8 win.
On Saturday, the Vikings were able to have big innings late, taking both games for a series split.
Game 1: W 2-0
- Things were quiet for both teams until the top of the 3rd inning when
Jack McQueen led things off with a double to right field

Carson Lundmark all drew walks, loading the bases and scoring McQueen

Garret Lundmark continued to keep the Vikings off balance and the Comets score again in the 6th with a single from McQueen that scored Kevin Conway
- The Vikings had two base runners on in the bottom of the 7th, but Lundmark was able to get out of the jam and seal the 2-0 win
Game 2: W 9-8
- Vikings score early putting 3 runs up in the bottom of the 1st
- Comets respond in the top of the 4th by plating 2 runs with a SAC fly from McQueen & a squeeze from Villarreal scoring

- Vikings plate another run in the bottom of the 4th; 4-2 Valley City
- In the 5th, C. Lundmark draws a lead off walk followed up by a Cam Goff double
- Conway is able to hit a SAC fly, scoring Lundmark to make it a one run game
- Valley City plates another run in the bottom of the 6th but the Comets respond in the top of the 7th with 2 more runs tying the game 5-5
- In the bottom of the 7th, the Vikings plate 2 more runs in the back and forth battle - regaining the lead 7-5

Chris Shopbell & C. Lundmark tie things up once again
- Again, the Vikings respond, taking the lead 8-7 heading into the top of the 9th
- Rankin gets hit by a pitch and Shopbell smokes his second home run of the game putting the Comets up 9-8
- The Vikings drew a walk in the bottom of the 9th, but
Jake Hutter holds his ground and Mayville State takes the first 2 games of the series
Game 3: L 2-6
- A pair of singles, and an error plate a Vikings run in the bottom of the 2nd
- Shopbell hits a solo home run in the top of the 3rd to tie the game 1-1; it would be Shopbell's 3rd home run of the series & his 9th of the season
- Vikings regain the lead in the bottom of the 5th, scoring 2 runs on 2 hits making it a 3-1 ball game
- McQueen hits a 2 out RBI single in the top of the 6th to make it a 3-2 game
- The Vikings push 3 runs on 4 hits in the bottom of the 6th to extend their lead 6-2
- The Comets find 2 runners on in the top of the 7th but the Vikings are able to close things out and get the game 3 win 6-2
Game 4: L 12-14
- In what would be a game 4 hit fest, both the Comets & Vikings scored in 5 of 9 innings played
- Both teams would rack up 12 hits a piece
- The Comets score 3 runs in the top of the 1st, the Vikings follow up with one run making it 3-1 early
- In the 2nd inning the Comets plate 2 more runs and another 4 in the 3rd
- Heading into the 4th inning, the Comets lead 9-3
- The Vikings offense explodes in the bottom of the 4th scoring 7 runs on 6 hits, taking the lead 10-9 midway through
- Mayville State scores 3 more runs in the game, but the Vikings offense would be too much as they score 4 more, taking the 14-12 win
