YANKTON, SD - Mayville State earned a resounding victory over Dakota State University 7-1 in game one on Sunday without ever putting up a big number. They took advantage of their opportunities to get the win.
The Comets fired up the offense in the first inning with RBI singles by
Rodney Gilbert and
Brady Nygaard to give MSU an early 2-0 lead. Errors by the Trojans late in the game allowed Mayville State to build their lead on their way to win.
Erik Barron was the winning pitcher for Mayville State. He lasted seven innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out eight and walking one.
Nagel took the loss for Dakota State, he lasted six innings, allowing nine hits and six runs while striking out five.
Mayville State had nine hits in the game.

Riley Nelson, and
Andrew Hill each collected two hits for the Comets.
Both teams were strong on the mound in game two on Sunday, but the Comets defeated Dakota 3-1 in a tight game. Mayville State pitchers allowed just five hits to Trojan batters.

Mason Pryzbilla was also able to drive in
Zachary Foster on a sac fly in the second inning to make things 3-0. That was all
Mason Swegarden would need.

Kalton Agnes recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Mayville State.

Spencer Merle, and Zach Foster each collected two hits to lead Mayville State in the victory.
Riley Nelson didn't feel much like getting out in the third game on Sunday, tallying four hits and helping lead Mayville State to a 16-6 win. Nelson singled in the first, singled in the second, singled in the third, and singled in the fifth on his way to three RBIs and four runs scored.
The base paths were crowded in this high-scoring game. Mayville State collected 12 hits and Dakota State University had six.

Mayville State then notched six runs in the fifth with an RBI single by Pluth, a sac fly by

Andrew Hill, and a 3-run home run by Zach Foster to make things 16-6.
Parker Stohr was the winning pitcher for the Comets. He went two innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out three and walking zero. Oz Escobar and
Kalton Agnes entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Mayville State collected 12 hits in game three. Nelson, Pluth, and
Spencer Merle all managed multiple hits in the game. Nelson went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the Comets in hits.
