Comets Take Two From Blue Hawks

BELLEVUE, NE - Jonathon Folena was an RBI machine on Friday, driving in six on three hits to lead Mayville State past Dickinson State 23-7. Folena drove in runs on a single in the first, a grand slam in the fourth, and a double in the fifth.

An early lead helped propel the Comets to victory, Mayville State scored on a single by Jonathan Pluth, a single by Folena, a home run by Zachary Foster, and a sac fly by Mason Pryzbilla in the first inning. Then in the second inning, Andrew Hill popped another home run out for the Comets to make things 7-1.

The big inning came in the sixth when Mayville State was able to tally six runs thanks to a single by Makaio Duyao, a home run by Obie Wilder, and a double by Corbin Phelts.

Parker Stohr took the win for Mayville State. He went three innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out three. Conner Starke and Osvaldo Escobar entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Mayville State University Comets launched six home runs on the day. Brady Nygaard had a dinger in the fifth inning, Hill went for the long ball in the second inning, and Jonathon Folena put one out in the fourth inning. Spencer Merle went for the long ball in the fifth and Wilder went deep in the sixth inning. 

In game two, Mayville State snagged a late lead and defeated Dickinson State 4-3. The game was tied at three with the Comets batting in the bottom of the fifth when Jonathon Folena managed to score to give MSU the late lead and the eventual win. 

Dickinson State managed to build their lead to 3-1 in the third inning, but Obie Wilder was able to respond for the Comets and deliver a 2-RBI double that scored Jonathon Folena and Zachary Foster to tie it up at three runs apeice. 

Mayville State saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in game two. Obie Wilder and Brady Nygaard all had multiple hits for the Comets. Nygaard and Wilder each collected a couple hits to lead Mayville State.
