The Comets' bats came alive and produced on Thursday afternoon to give Mayville State the 13-5 victory over the Concordia Cobbers.
The Comets got on the board right away in the first inning when
Jonathon Folena singled on a 2-2 count, scoring
Jonathan Pluth to give MSU the 1-0 lead right away. Concordia answered with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning with a fielder's choice that scored Nate Hoeft to tie things up at one run apiece.
The Cobbers gained the lead in the fourth with a sac fly from Eric Watt, but the Comets were able to open the flood gates and get the bats going after that.
Mayville State took the lead for good with six runs in the fifth inning off a
Zachary Foster double, a
Brady Nygaard double, and a
Riley Nelson base hit to drive in the runs that gave the Comets the lead throughout the game.
Uriel Rosario toed the rubber for Mayville State. He surrendered two runs on two hits over two innings, striking out one.
The Comets collected 17 hits.
