MAYVILLE, ND - A four-run third inning led Mayville State to a 7-1 victory on Sunday afternoon. Jonathan Pluth, Brady Nygaard, and Obie Wilder each had RBIs in the frame to lead the Comets to victory.

Conner Starke earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for the Comets. He went all nine innings, only allowing one run on five hits, striking out nine without giving up a walk.

Brock Burquest took the loss for University of Minnesota Morris after allowing two hits and four runs over three innings, striking out four.

The Comets had nine hits in the game. Brady Nygaard, Riley Nelson, Jonathan Pluth, and Obie Wilder each collected two hits to lead Mayville State at the plate on Sunday.

Jackson Gessell went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the way for Minnesota Morris in hits.

Mayville State will square off against North Dakota State University on Tuesday to finish up their regular season, then get things ready for the conference tournament starting this week. The Comets will come into the tournament with a #1 seed and will wait to see which team they face in the opening round.
