MSU enters the contest with a 2-0 record defeating University of Jamestown by a final score of 7-5 and Valley City State 7-1. During the two games, the Comets are hitting .271 with 19 hits, four doubles, three home runs, and 13 runs batted in. The pitching staff is allowing a 2.50 earned run average with allowing five earned runs, 16 strikeouts, and a .243 batting average against.
Matthew Johnston has allowed one run in six innings of work with one walk and six strikeouts. Leading the Mayville State offense is
Payton DeLuca with five hits in eight at-bats with one double.
Adam Senden is hitting .375 with two home runs, three runs batted in, and three runs scored.
Valley City State enters the game with a 0-1 record, dropping last weeks matchup with the Comets by a final score of 7-1. In the game, the Vikings hit .212 with seven hits, two doubles, and one run scored. The pitching staff allowed seven runs, a .265 batting average and struck out seven batters. Reed Butz threw 3.2 innings allowing zero earned runs, walking two, and striking out five. David Demeter went 3-for-4 on Thursday hitting one double. Gage Gellner had two hits and drove in the only Viking run.
