Game Recap: Volleyball | | Jordan Olson, SID

Volleyball falls to the University of Winnipeg Friday and Saturday

Mayville, N.D. - Mayville State Comet Volleyball hosted the University of Winnipeg Wesmen Friday and Saturday for a non-conference match up.

Friday night, the Comet Volleyball players parents were recognized to kick off the Farmers Bowl and Homecoming festivities.

Unfortunately, a fast paced Winnipeg team would take the Comets in 3 sets, both days.

"This weekend, I think we struggled to make adjustments in the moment. There were good moments, but we struggled to build momentum and string it all together," said head coach Katie Aasen. "Playing the same team twice in a row was a mental battle that we will continue to work on."

Friday: L 0-3 (18-25, 19-25, 12-25)

The Wesmen led the Comets in every category as Mayville State struggled to get into any type of rhythm.

Kills Leaders:
Samantha Passa - 5
Madison McKinnon - 5
Andrea Majchrzak - 4

Block Leaders:
Abby Cox - 2
Madison McKinnon - 2

Saturday: L 0-3 (20-25, 18-25, 20-25)

Day two against the Wesmen started off better, but the Comets struggled to find any momentum to push them past Winnipeg.

Again, the Wesmen would lead in every category with the exception of blocks.

Comet Volleyball will spend the next eight games on the road as their next home match won't be until October 24th where they will host Valley City State.

Their next match will be this Tuesday against Concordia College (Minn.) in a non-conference match up starting at 7:00pm
