Yankton, S.D. - After not competing since October, the Men's & Women's Golf team headed south the Yankton, S.D. where they participated in the Dakota Wesleyan Invite. The tournament was played at Lakeview Golf Course which is a par-72 course.

"I'm very happy with our first performance of the spring. Our scores were better or about the same for everyone from the fall, so our offseason program was effective. This was a good start for preparing for the Conference meet at the end of the month," said head coach John Murphy.

On the men's side, Satchel Tickel led the way for the Comets tying for 6th followed by Damian Pokrzywinski who placed 9th.

"Both Damian and Satchel finished in the top 10, which is a great start. Most were unhappy with their putting, which was understandable. To me, that says we have some great opportunities to score even better down the road," commented Murphy.

On the women's side, just three Comet golfers participated, which weren't enough for a team score. However, Kambree Hauglie placed 31st overall.

"Gracie fared very well in her first collegiate tournament, and Kaylee was one tough hole from her personal best round. Looking forward to Mayville GC opening soon so we can sharpen up our short game," said Murphy.

Next up the Comets will hit the road to Dickinson, where last year they had a windy outing. The Comets will play at the Heart River Golf Course in Dickinson on April 13th & 14th. 

"We played in very rough conditions last year, so hopefully we get a little better weather this time. The whole team will be participating so it will be nice to see everyone get some rounds in this weekend," added Murphy.
