Winter Haven, Fla. – Mayville State Comets Baseball wrapped up a strong spring break trip at the RussMatt Invitational in Winter Haven, finishing 6-3 overall against a competitive slate of opponents.

The Comets opened the trip in impressive fashion, winning their first five games, highlighted by a signature victory over No. 18 Concordia University out of Seward, Nebraska. The hot start extended Mayville State's winning streak to nine games and continued a stretch of strong play on both sides of the ball.

Concordia later ended that streak on Monday, defeating the Comets 6-4 in the second meeting between the two teams during the trip.

Mayville State returns home from Florida with a 13-7 overall record and momentum heading into its next test at the Frontier Conference Pre-Season Tournament in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, this Saturday and Sunday.

The Comets are scheduled to face Dickinson State, Bellevue University, Bismarck State, and Dakota State over the weekend as they continue preparing for conference play.
