The Comets Football team returned home looking for better results, but were unable to stop the Vikings high-octane passing offense.
The air attack started early for the Vikings, as they recorded three touchdown passes in the first quarter. Valley City tacked on two more touchdowns and nearly added a third late in the second. However,
Jason Smith stepped in front of a Viking pass and sprinted 98 yards the other way to get the Comets on the board. However, the Vikings did get that third TD, and went into halftime leading 42-7. Mayville State got its offense untracked in the 4th quarter, as
Lance Jackson raced around and through the Vikings defense for a 54 yard touchdown catch and
Dwyquan Morris scored on a 4 yard touchdown run. However, it was too little, too late and the Vikings remained undefeated in North Star play, winning 63-19.
Jackson recorded 3 catches for 79 yards and a touchdown, and
Jacob Grosz,
Raven Smith,
Will Ervin and
Travis Ahlgren each collected 9 tackles.
The Comets finish off the regular season next weekend against Jamestown at Jerome Berg field, kickoff is at 100 pm.
